New Student Orientation (OMB) at Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN) 2024 has been successfully implemented, marking the start of the academic journey for the new students. With the theme “Tidak Ada Tentang Kita, Tanpa Kita” (Nothing About Us, Without Us), OMB UMN 2024 aims to introduce the academic world and campus life, and to affirm the students' identity as the nation's next generation.
The OMB activities took place over several days, beginning with the Senate Open Session as the scholarly tradition that commences the new academic year. The event was filled with various group dynamics designed to strengthen the relationship among participants and introduce UMN's core values, namely the 5Cs: Caring, Credible, Competent, Competitive, and Customer Delight. One of the memorable moments in OMB UMN 2024 was the “Bhavana” dynamic, where new students were invited to explore the campus while building strong relationships with their peers. In addition, the “Wiyata” dynamic introduced the UMN 5C values as pillars in forming students' character to be integrated and responsible. The “Ekawira” dynamic tested the courage and steadfastness of the participants through challenges designed to build a resilient mentality, preparing them to face a challenging future.
The peak event of the OMB was marked by the reading of the “Janji Mahasiswa Indonesia” (Indonesian Student Pledge) by the Committee Chair, Wilcoustine Qhristmas Pniel Wijaya, which affirmed the new students' commitment to upholding national values and the honor of the alma mater. This ceremony was made more solemn with a marching band performance and the flag-raising of UMN and the Indonesian flag.
OMB UMN 2024 also emphasized the importance of quick adaptation to the campus environment, helping new students familiarize themselves with UMN's facilities, culture, and learning system. This activity is a mandatory requirement for all new students as part of the transition process towards a more independent and responsible university life.
